COMPLIANCE TIP OF THE WEEK
Occasional Meal Policy
· Providing occasional home meals to enrolled student-athletes or the entire team is permissible.
· The meal must be served at the host’s home and may be catered.
· The host’s home must be a permanent residence, not a lake house, country house, etc.
· Providing such a meal must be restricted to special occasions and transportation may only be provided by the host or UM staff member.
· No other benefit may be provided while in the home (i.e. allowing a student-athlete to do laundry or use of items that would benefit the student-athlete).
· Family members of the student-athlete(s) may not be provided an occasional meal.
· The maximum number of total occasional meals that a student-athlete may accept is four per semester (that is total-not per booster).
· Sponsoring a student or adopting-a-player is also prohibited according to NCAA legislation.
* Providing an occasional meal to a student-athlete requires the completion of a form and prior approval from the UM Compliance Office. Please contact our office for the form.
