KGVO ONCE AGAIN UM’S FLAGSHIP STATION & HOLIEN RETURNS AS THE  “VOICE OF THE GRIZ”/THE 2013 GRIZZLY FOOTBALL NETWORK CAN BE HEARD STATEWIDE

MISSOULA, MONTANA (8/20/13) – Missoula radio stations KGVO-AM/FM will once again serve as the flagship station for University of Montana’s football and men’s basketball games, and Mick Holien, the “Voice of the Grizzlies” will call the action for the 21st season in a row, announced Learfield Sports (Grizzly Sports Properties) recently.  The network can be heard on 21 stations in 17 communities statewide.

Joining Holien in the football booth for his 16th straight season and providing in-booth color commentary is Scott Gurnsey, while Greg Sundberg, the Executive Director of UM’s Grizzly Scholarship Association, will serve as a sideline reporter.

The Karl Tyler Tailgate Show will be co-hosted by Tom Schultz and KECI-TV morning anchor, Adam Painter. The Tailgate Show airs statewide each week two hours prior to kickoff. For home games, the show is live from the GSA tailgate area, located across the street from Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

“We're thrilled to begin another exciting season of Grizzly Football. It's important to provide Griz fans throughout the state of Montana a valuable listening experience and we are extremely fortunate to have this outstanding crew on the Grizzly Sports Network," said Nick Garner, General Manager of Grizzly Sports Properties

The “Mick Delaney Radio Show” will air every Tuesday at 6:00 pm on the statewide radio network. Beginning Sept. 3, the radio show will be broadcast live from Dickey's Barbecue Pit in downtown Missoula.

Last year Holien was selected as “Montana Sports Broadcaster of the Year” for the sixth straight year, and he has received that award an unprecedented 12 times in his career.  Holien has been calling the action at UM for the past 29 seasons.  Prior to calling Griz football and men’s basketball (since the 1993-94 season) he served as the play-by-play announcer for Lady Griz basketball for eight years.

Gurnsey, a former (1991-94) standout at wide receiver for the Grizzlies, is ranked third in school history with 2,574 career receiving yards.
