TICKETS FOR 2011 GRIZZLY ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME BANQUET NOW ON SALE

Joe Douglass & Lisa (McLeod) Tinkle To Be Inducted

               MISSOULA, MT (9/11/09-dg)  — Two former standouts in football and Lady Griz basketball from The University of Montana will be formally inducted into theGrizzly Athletic Hall of Fame, Friday, October 14, 2011, and tickets for the induction banquet are now available.
               The banquet will be at the UC Ballroom on the UC campus and begins with a social hour at 6:00 p.m., with dinner served at 7:00 p.m., with the induction ceremony to follow.
This year’s inductees are former star wide receiver and punt returner Joe Douglass, and Lady Griz center
Lisa (McLeod) Tinkle.
               The day after the induction banquet, Douglass and McLeod will be introduced prior to the Montana-Portland State football game, which is on Saturday, Oct. 15, in UM’s Washington-Grizzly Stadium.  Also, any current members who attend the UM-PSU game will also be recognized.
               Douglass was a 6-0, 180-pounder from Salem, Ore (South Salem HS).  He  played for the Grizzlies in 1995 and 1996.  In 11 games in 1996 he set Montana single-season records for most receptions (82), receiving yards (1,469), average receptions per game (7.45), and touchdown catches (18).   He was named to several All-American teams in ‘96, when he led the nation in receiving yards, averaging 133.6 per game.
               In 22 career regular-season games he had 145 catches, 2,301 receiving yards, 174 points, and 25 receiving TDs.  He played two years in NFL Europe, and then played for several different teams in the Arena Football League from 2000-09.
               Joe and his wife, Liz, have two children, son Jayden, 6, and daughter Reese, age 4; they reside in Goodyear, Ariz.
               Tinkle (McLeod) was a 6-1 center from Great Falls (C.M. Russell High School).  She was a three-year starter on the Lady Griz basketball team.  The teams she played on  had an overall record of 108-15 and went 46-2 in league games. 
               She was a member of Lady Griz squads that won four Big Sky regular-season championships and advanced to three NCAA tournaments, and also received one WNIT berth.  She was named the Big Sky’s MVP as a senior, and was a three-time all-league selection. She was twice chosen Lady Griz team MVP, and was tabbed the team’s outstanding defensive player once.
               As a senior, Tinkle set a Lady Griz record (since broken) for most career points.  She is currently ranked in the top 10 in Lady Griz history in 12 different career categories, some of which include fourth in scoring (1,470 points); second in blocks (237); third in games played (123); fifth in field goal percentage (.496); sixth in rebounds (830), and ninth in steals (177).
               Lisa is married to former Grizzly basketball standout Wayne Tinkle, who recently concluded his fifth season as the head coach of Montana’s men’s hoop team.  Lisa and Wayne have three children: daughters Joslyn and Elleson, and son Tres, and they reside in Missoula.
               Tickets are $30 and available at the UM Ticket Office, or may be ordered by calling 243-4051 or 1-888-MONTANA (phone orders have a service charge).  The final deadline to purchase tickets is Monday, Oct. 10th.
